The First Cold Case Squad

The first Cold Case Squad was in Florida. In 1979, the Metro-Dade Police Department (now the Miami-Dade Police Department) created the first cold case squad in the United States. They called it the Pending Case Squad. There were some problems, and the squad was disbanded. They tried again in 1983 and solved a 1982 murder of a little girl. By 1984 they decided to formally give it another go, this time calling it the Cold Case Squad.

IN THE MATTER OF THE UNSOLVED MURDER OF MY FATHER, JOSEPH J. DIMARE, ON THE NIGHT OF MARCH 24, 1961 IN DADE COUNTY, WHY IS MIAMI DADE POLICE REFUSING TO ACCOUNT FOR MY FATHERS MISSING .25 CALIBER SATA SEMIAUTOMATIC GUN AND THE FACT THAT A PRIME SUSPECT, LOUIS IRWIN, IS ALSO SUPPOSEDLY TO HAVE OWNED THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL SATA? IS THE GUN IN LOUIS IRWINS POSSESSION REALLY MY FATHERS? IF SO, ONLY ONE PERSON COULD HAVE GIVEN IRWIN THIS GUN AND THAT IS MY STEPMOTHER. WHY THE CONTINUED SILENCE SINCE MARCH 25, 1961 WHEN I GAVE POLICE AN EXPENDED SHELL AND BULLET FROM MY FATHERS GUN THAT WAS ALWAYS KEPT IN THE FAMILY HOUSE?

I have emailed the person who left questions about his father’s murder.
